The Museum School was one of the first museum preschools accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
DOODLER
The philosophy of Doodler Studio replicates the discovery approach that has been the foundation of Museum School for over 50 years. When people, especially children, mix their constructed knowledge of a particular science subject with imagination and artistic expression, it opens the possibility for engagement in innovative thinking. Activities will be designed to blur the line between science and art.
In Doodler, guests can add ideas and sketches about light to the “Doodle Display” area for others to see. Art materials will available for sketching lamp artifacts from the Museum’s history collections. Classic and contemporary art toys and exploration of light with prisms, mirrors and lasers are featured on a different table. The “Open Art” area will provide art tools for making luminaries and paper lanterns and shadow drawings. Doodler Studio will highlight birthdays of famous scientists, artists, authors and musicians and on those special days, guests can make a birthday hat and learn a little about that person’s contribution to society.
